It's been four weeks since Ember Brycin witnessed what her powers are capable of. The Electrical Current Storm (ECS) has turned Seattle, Washington into a natural disaster zone. The death toll is in the thousands with countless others homeless and hungry.
And Ember is the one who caused it. Something she will have to live with every day.
Those people who were unable to escape either turned quickly into gangs or live in shelters. Ember, on the other hand, can't do either. With a price on her head and a Dark Dweller on her ass, she is constantly on the move. Both Light and Dark are hunting her for their own purpose to use her as a weapon or a pawn in the war between the Unseelie King of the Dark and the Seelie Queen of the Light.
Em needs help but doesn't know who to trust: Lars, the mystery man Torin told her to find? Torin, the Seelie Queen's personal knight, who has sworn to keep Em safe? Or Eli, who wants to turn her over to the Unseelie King, but whom she has an undeniable, intense connection with?
No matter what she chooses she will probably lose - her life or everything and everyone she loves.

I need more now!!!As the synopsis tells us - it's been four weeks since Ember was forced to use her powers to decimate Seattle, four weeks since she managed to escape Aniera's clutches but also four weeks that her father has been in captivity and four weeks that she has had to live with the devastation caused by herself and the lives lost through her power. Trying to blend into the scenery is not an option as a price is put on her head & time after time she is hunted by those loyal to the Seelie Queen, those who would use her to destroy the world in the name of power & revenge. When one attempt at capture lands her straight back into the hands of Eli & the `Dark Dwellers', Ember is certain she is about to be handed over to the other side - the Unseelie King - used again as a pawn or a weapon.... Will she ever catch a break? But hope shines through as her feelings for Eli deepen and she begins to train in an effort to defend herself... but true to form, nothing ever goes right for Ember as some shocking truths are revealed, the enemy gain the upper hand and Ember falls into the hands of someone she truly had never wanted to cross paths with... things are looking quite bleak for our heroine when not only is her life at stake but also her heart. So yeah, I LOVED this! I just want to gush about it but I will refrain and try to give you all a non spoilery review. If book one was all about the relationships, sexual tension & super hotness, book two is the reveal book..... but also filled with sexual tension & hotness :D I loved the progression in both the characters & storyline - Ember is coming into her own even though at the beginning she was just wounded by the devastation she had caused, she felt like she couldn't go on until a pep talk from Cooper gave her the reason to fight, to fight in the name of those who died when she was forced to use her powers... and she will. It was nice to see her get some of her determination back. I loved the training she gets, both from friends & unexpected sources, she needed it, we need to see that she is getting a handle on herself. I always love the time she has with Eli because there is always some sexual tension in a love/hate kind of way and I LOVE that, I both loved & hated the direction their relationship went but daymn it makes for good reading. I'm not even worried about Torin, to be honest, I don't even know if I trust him, I like that she has options but I'm definitely team Eli.The storyline was amazing! The pacing was perfect too as we share Embers adventure, I like it when a character is just as unaware of their history, what they're capable of & who they really are, as the reader because I like to share the reactions, it helps connect to the character. This was a big eye opener in every sense of the word and a lot of skeletons are about to be revealed as it seems everyone is keeping something from her. It's really hard for her trust in the first place but after this I'll be surprised if she ever trusts again. Don't think that it's all secrets though, there is still plenty of action, lots of fights, being chased & attacked and as I said, the enemy do gain the upper hand but for how long? that was nicely spaced with a bit of romance which is always welcome, especially the super charged, super hot but also sweet forest scene which I loved! and I really enjoyed her time at her new home but altogether it was just wow! I can't even describe it without giving something away.... So be prepared for more action, more adventure, more secrets, more lies but a good few answers to the questions about Ember & those around her. We even get more creatures and venture into the Otherworld so yeah, be prepared to have you world rocked along with Ember and oh, the ending..... so frustrating but as a good book always should..... it leaves you wanting more.

Pure Raw Talent By Aoife Marie Sheridan Rating: 5 out of 5 starsFire in the DarknessReview of Fantasy(3rd Review for August)While often reading the first book in a sequel, it's spell binding but the second book in a sequel always lacks something, maybe we love learning about the worlds we are about to jump into, bending our heads to see around corners. Normally in a second book the plot is laid out and now we shall follow through. But with Fire in the Darkness it is SO NOT what happens, I really thought I would be able to predict everything but I can't I am yet again left screaming for the next instalment. I don't know who to trust, I don't know what's even real at times. The plot has thickened and has delved into the dark side. I found myself hanging on to the edge of my seat, or feeling heartbroken or drained at all the deceit on Ember. This book exceeded my expectations. If you think you know what will happen, trust me you don't. An outstanding written piece of work.Characters: Ember she still has kept her smart way of going on, with great comebacks but in this story it's lovely to see her more vulnerable side, the heart ache she experiences is truly heart wrenching and the author delivers it with a blow that will make you shed tears.Eli: Hot hot hot, and so complicated but damaged also, he's interesting but not a Romeo by any means no flowers, no sweet words but for Ember he is her other half in my eyes, the two just make sense. The love between them isn't gentle or patient it's trying to clay its way out of them while both of them resist, fighting for self-preservation, but as they say love conquers all.The author's style of writing is raw talent, it's different even quirky. I am a true fan and she tops my list of my favourite Indie Authors.

You guys all remember how much I LOVED Darkness of Light, and Fire in the Darkness delivered just as much as the first book. I could not put it down. it kept me guessing right up until the end, and I think I actually gasped out loud a few times while reading.Ember is awesome in Fire in the Darkness. She has this amazing dry sense of humor. She just deadpans these great one liners and she is constantly cracking me up. I love watching her zing Eli over and over again. But even though she is all fierce and kick butt and can totally hold her own, we get to see so many different sides to her. We see some of her darker Demon side, as well as a more vulnerable and dare I say it-softer side.I was a little nervous when the book first started that we wouldn't see much of Eli this time around. The book starts off a little after the first book left off, with Ember on the run from the Seelie Queen after she finally found out what she was. But never fear, soon enough Eli and his gang show up. Eli puts up a big front about doing what he needs to for his family and how everything was an act for him, but you can see right through him. I loved watching him and Ember interact. The way they bantered and pushed each others buttons was so funny, and so clearly filled with URST. And when he showed up in her dreamscape and didn't like Torin, I squee-ed like a little girl. But Eli isn't the only guy in Fire in the Darkness. I have to say, I didn't see the whole Lars thing coming! But that is the beauty of the darkness series. It keeps you on your toes. You won't be able to put this book down. This is quickly turning out to be one of my favorite paranormal series, not just of the year, but of all time. There are so many new surprises in this book, I don't want to ruin anything for anyone, so you will just have to experience the magic of Fire in the Darkness for yourself.*Disclaimer- I got a copy of this book for free in exchange for my honest review. I was not compensated for my thoughts.
