Dive into the secret, ancient, powerful world of two New Orleans families, the Deschanels and the Sullivans… From USA Today bestselling paranormal author Sarah M. Cradit comes Myths of Midwinter, Volume 6 in the bestselling witches family saga, The House of Crimson & Clover. Not a standalone story, Midwinter's plot makes the most sense only after having the prior volumes. Quillan Sullivan lost his twin brother two decades ago, a tragedy he never fully experienced due to his unusual ability to see and talk to Riley when no one else can. He believes this "gift" is a fluke, until the haughty, vainglorious love of his life, Estella, returns after several years abroad, and rips his world apart. Estella Broussard loathes Quillan. He's the last person on Earth she'd ever bless with her presence. To her great dismay, he alone holds the key to achieving her deepest desire. She will do anything to reach her aims, no matter the warnings... no matter the cost to Quillan. Nerys guides Finn and Aleksandr on their mission to find Anasofiya and bring her home. Finn accepts her help, on the condition she keep no secrets. She relays what she knows... all except the visions her old companion has sent her, regarding a terrifying menace to the Deschanels back home: A necromancer has emerged, and this ominous knowledge has fallen into the wrong hands. The threads of fate weave the Deschanels and Sullivans down perilous paths, as a centuries-old warning emerges: Seduction to sinners. A legacy in splinters. Beware, the myths of midwinter. This one felt more like a bridge though. It was a complete novel, yet didn't complete the story. I can't wait for the next book to be released. Cradit has a way of using various viewpoints from chapter to chapter that brings parallel stories together - many authors who write in this style have books that feel disjointed, but Cradit creates separate storylines that overlap. While this is certainly not a standalone story, it is definitely another "chapter" in the continuing saga. What will happen next?I was given an ARC - this review is my honest and fair review and entirely my own.

Cradit's Crimson & Clover books and novella's and with each one I fall in love with the Sullivan's, Deschanel's and even the Broussard's a tiny bit more. This story surely didn't disappoint in any way! Each book becomes more pulse stopping, more drama filled and intensely more intricate in the inter-weavings of the families. These books would be best read in order so that you are up to date on the current happenings in all of the key player's lives. (see the end of the review for the list)With that out of the way - I am still on the edge of my seat wondering if Anasofia and Finn will re-unite, if Oz will move on, if Jonathan will find happiness, if Nic is able to move on with Mercy, what will happen?!?! After spending so much time with these characters they literally become a part of you and your life! You feel a compelling need to know what has happened to them and what may still come next! The author weaves a tale filled with mystery that leaves the reader breathless as they frantically turn the pages to see what may happen next! I know that each book brings another mystery to light and I hope that the books never stop, as these characters are a part of my life! The quote that the author uses: “Remember the warning, with the fervor of faith:Seduction to sinner. A legacy in splinters. Beware the myths of midwinter” - is something that the reader will understand as they read and unravel some of the forces at work behind the curse! This book will give us more insight into the life of Quillan Sullivan and his unrequited love Estella. We get to see how love can truly cloud the mind and how it feels to be hurt by the ones we love. I really enjoyed getting to know Quillan and he has moved up on my list of favorites! I also enjoyed reading about Jon and hope that this is the Jon that continues to come out in the next books! One thing is for certain, Author Sarah M. Cradit has more than a few surprises up her sleeves! Make sure you start at the beginning of the series and you won't ever want to stop reading these amazing books! They will have you laughing, crying, yelling and screaming for more! 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Well Written, Complex and Utterly Absorbing! By julie whiteley Myths of Midwinter by Sarah M. Cradit is a 2015 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.“Remember the warning, with the fervor of faith:Seduction to sinner. A legacy in splinters. Beware the myths of midwinter”By now those who follow my reviews are well aware of my gushing effusiveness over this series. I can honestly say I've never come across a such a unique blend of paranormal, occult, and fantasy, mixed with all manner of family drama and suspense. This series is one that may leave a character hanging in the balance, but doesn't necessarily have to pick up where it left off in the next book, which under ordinary circumstances might leave readers feeling frustrated , but fans of HOC&C know to be patient and that good things come to those that wait…While Ana's fate is still in question, Finn is hard at work finding a way to save his wife. In the meantime he learns more about his own gifts and how he can use those gifts to reunite himself with Ana and for the sake of his son and the prophesy. But, the main story here doesn't center on that particular situation as much as it does on some characters we've met briefly in previous installments. This was a wicked story, full of white knuckle suspense, some morally bankrupt characters, with a very heavy, dark, atmosphere that gave me the shivers a time or two. This book is definitely intended for those who have kept up the series up to this point, so it's safe to say, that all that occurs here is part of a bigger picture. I can't wait to see what happens next, which is the beauty of this series. It's always fresh, always rich in details and atmosphere, sharp dialogue, and pushes the reader toward vivid imagery and challenges our perceptions. As always this story is well written, complex, and utterly absorbing.4.5 stars
