Review Cathy Smith has released a new crochet book with Martingale that has adorable designs for crochet cars and trucks. The eight crochet patterns in Honk! Beep! Vroom! allow you to create a mixture of different vehicles that would be perfect as a play set for young girls and boys. Many are the classic toy cars that kids love to play with including the police car, fire truck and ambulance. You will also find a taxi cab, dump truck and school bus. The collection of crochet patterns is rounded out with a convertible and a VW Beetle. Make the whole collection or stick to a smaller section of the set depending on the play set you wish to create. There are instructions for using craft materials to create wheels that actually roll so that these vehicles can be used in play. It's the movable wheels that really set these patterns apart from other amigurumi crochet cars. The book offers detailed information about how to make the toys roll. However, you also have the option of creating the patterns as crocheted stuffies instead. Each crochet pattern comes with a simple description, high quality photos and detailed written instructions. Vroom! – Crochet Toys That Move is a great book for the Crocheter who is ready to move beyond just using their yarn and crochet hook to make a finished project.This being said – it is also a GREAT book for anyone who would like to make a crochet car stuffie!If you love the designs included in the book but would prefer to make a soft toy - without moveable wheels, it is very easy to do using the instructions included in the book.The book includes very specific and detailed instructions to allow you to create your own moveable toy.Each design is crocheted using Red Heart Super Saver Yarn and a 4 mm crochet hook. For the wheel assembly you will need additional supplies including wooden dowels, 7-mesh plastic canvas and hard plastic straws. The dump truck requires some additional supplies including pipe cleaner and felt.If you are looking for a unique toy to make - you will find it in this book!"I received a sample copy of this book for free in exchange for a review, but all opinions are my own.

Vroom! – Crochet Toys That Move contains 8 cool car and truck patterns that actually move! The patterns are all very beginner-friendly with detailed instructions to help you create each vehicle. These little stuffed cars are not just great for kids, but adults as well! You can choose from several different vehicle patterns such as a police car, school bus, dump truck, fire truck and more! Or, make them all! If you are looking for a unique gift for a friend or loved one, you will find some great patterns in this book! Ok, I do know that vehicles aren’t just for boys, but I have heard many times there isn’t enough crochet patterns for boys, so these will appeal to that audience.Favorite Project: Dump TruckReview: While there are a small number of projects, each one has amazing detail. From the tires to the lights on the emergency vehicles, or the taxicab signage, nothing has been overlooked or forgotten. Cathy Smith did a great job of making these realistic, yet safe for a baby.I was also impressed to see assembly instructions so that you will have no issues with where to place and sew pieces. There is also general information (gauge, terms, abbreviations), as well as stitch help and photos.
