"There are new rules governing the country--namely, no magic. But Fiona Forzese has never been good with rules." As Fiona tries to pick up the pieces of her shattered life, she and Tobias take shelter in a classmate’s Southern mansion. The plan should be simple—finish out junior year in the safety of an old Virginia plantation. But Fiona can’t let things lie. She’s convinced the plantation belongs to a sinister witch-hunting cult. Worse, Tobias is clearly hiding a dark secret of his own. And if he weren’t looking so annoyingly attractive, maybe Fiona could focus on her investigations long enough to figure everything out. As Fiona digs deeper into the Ranulf's past, she learns a dark truth that shocks her to her core. But it isn't only the Ranulfs who have something to hide. As the witch-hunting cult closes in, Fiona is forced to choose who she really trusts before she loses everyone she cares about. About the Author C.N. Crawford is not one person but two. We write our novels collaboratively, passing our laptops back and forth to edit each other's words. Christine (C) grew up in the historic town of Lexington, and has a lifelong interest in New England folklore - with a particular fondness for creepy old cemeteries. Nick (N) spent his childhood reading fantasy and science fiction further north during Vermont's long winters.

The school in Boston is burned and classmates have died. Thomas and Celia are still trapped in Maremount and are working hard on finding a way back to Boston.Meanwhile Fiona and her classmates are trying to finish high school with the so called protection of the Ranulf family. But nothing is the way it seems and there are still a lot of secrets. This book was definitely just as intriguing and fascinating to read as the first one. There is a lot going on in this book and it never gets boring. What I loved the most about this book was the way it was written through different point of views. We read the book through the eyes of Tobias, Fiona, Thomas, Jack and Celia. This sounds like a lot and maybe even too much.. But I definitely loved reading this book from so many different eyes. It just really fit the story. One of the most interesting parts of this book for me, was definitely getting to know Jack a little more. He is still evil but somehow the author was able to also make me like him more and I even felt a little itsy bitsy sympathy for him.A lot of secrets and questions I had in the end of book one are revealed in this book, but I also have a lot more questions now for the third book. A little frustrating to be honest. So now I have to wait patiently for book three.. and I’m not a very patient person! Sigh…So what can I do to make the wait a little easier.. Yep I ordered the beautiful looking paperback versions of this series. I mean, have you looked at those covers? I love them and I can’t wait to have them standing on my shelves. The Memento Mori series really is an awesome fantasy series and I really recommend it to other fantasy readers. This isn’t a standalone novel though, so you really just have to read the first book ‘The Witching Elm’ first.. not a bad thing.. I promise! ;)

By Michelle I received my copy of A Witch’s Feast from the author. The writing team of C.N. Crawford has quickly become new favourite YA/urban fantasy/paranormal authors. The second book in the Memento Mori Witch Series is just as fantastic at the first! Without giving away the plot of this latest installment, the story picks up three days after the end of the first book. Boston is still under tight lockdown after the “terrorist” attack. The young witches that were able to get back to Boston from Maremount are whisked off with a few other classmates to the plantation home of Senator Ranulf to ensure their safety; however more evil is afoot as they are now under the “protection” of leaders of a blood cult endowed with a government sanction. Thomas and Celia are still trapped in Maremount but are fighting hard to escape and make their way back to Boston with the help of Tobias’ old friend Oswald. Nothing is as it seems in Maremount or in New England.Jack is back, sexy and evil, but the authors are successfully able to build sympathy for his character all the while making us detest him. Can someone be truly evil if they have good intentions? Makes us wonder if Jack and Tobias are not flip sides of the same coin. The imagery is as incredible as the first novel, especially the details of the angel statuary in the boxwood labyrinth heading to the Ranulf family crypt. The Throcknell castle with their faerie parties are juxtaposed with the oppressive squalor of the dungeons, and Asmodeus’ lair reminds me of a scene from Harry Potter.Chapters are told from the perspective of various characters: Tobias, Fiona, Thomas, Jack and Celia, which is crucial since the action is split between New England and Maremount. I love stories told from varying perspectives and this one was especially easy since the chapters were clearly marked with the character’s name. These opportunities to see a little further into the individual character allowed two alarming facts to be learned about Thomas’ mother and Fiona’s father which I am certain will play a crucial role in the third installment.Once again historical references to Puritans, the Salem witch trials, Jamestown, the founding fathers, slavery, even the Bubonic plague weave in and out the story creating both real and fanciful points of contact. This series really does have it all. History, horror, possible romance, intellect, witchcraft, shapeshifting and succubii, and plenty of action. So excited to see where the rest of the series and the novelettes take us.

In book two of this amazing series By Danni Warner I received this book early from the Authors – and how honored I am to have been able to review this amazing piece. In book two of this amazing series, we follow Fiona, Tobias and the gang as they try and pick up the pieces from a Harvester-ravaged Boston. The self-proclaimed savior of mankind, Munroe – kindly offers her family home to the surviving junior class to finish out the school year.Fiona soon learns how dangerous this turns out to be.Munroe’s mother hides sinister secrets behind closed doors of their large mansion, along with putrid cucumber soup. Fiona realizes that to save herself and her coven, she will have to investigate just what happens when nobody is watching. But not everyone is solely focused on the going’s on at the Ranulf mansion. Tobias has his own mission, and he will stop at nothing to achieve it, but how much danger can he keep putting Fiona in before he gets her or even himself killed? From monster dopplegangers, to vicious witch-hunters and secrets within their own coven, Boston’s events now seemed like just a nightmare, now more than ever every single one of them is tested. There’s something so raw and gritty about this series that makes it completely unique to other novels of the Young Adult type, with a good mix of suspense, horror and of course – the blooming romance. There were super important things that were brought up in the book and there was absolutely nothing further to explain them or how they related to the story. Fiona’s dad? The fury and how she looked so similar? Wanted to tear my hair out. True story. I need these answers, need like I need oxygen and chocolate and more money to buy more books and more shelves so that all the books that currently don’t fit in shelves, can then fit in shelves. The point is that I need these answers. But that’s it. This book was otherwise perfect for me. I got more blood, guts and violence. I got more diversity in the stories told, which were from many different accounts of all the characters spread over different worlds. I fell more in love with Alan (and I still think he needs his own novel series) and I can believe every single character as though they weren’t pieces of anyone’s imagination. For a full review please click on this link
