Salas If you are going to be renting a car in the UK in your travels this is a must read before you go and while you are there so that you will know what the road signs mean once you arrive. They dont do things the same way we do here in the states. So glad I purchased this and will review it every time we travel to the UK.

I had been driving for 25+ years before I temporarily moved to England. Decided to take driving lessons to "touch up" my skills. It was the best thing I ever did! The Highway Code is expansive and brought a huge degree of sanity to England's tiny roads (however, there were dreadful drivers there too!) I miss having an American version of this manual. The 1999 version I had (this was 2007) had over 1000 rules, you needed multiple lessons (I could drive but took 10 lessons before feeling comfortable I'd pass the test as 60% of people fail on their first try!) and then the test itself is 45+ minutes in VERY busy traffic. You were allowed to make 16 errors (some mistakes lost you one point, others more), if you made more than 16 before the test ended the instructor drove you home and you started the process all over again! In England they consider driving a privilege not a right and boy do you have to earn the privilege! :)

It didn't save my left side mirror coverage until I learned to disregard the center line. English streets are frequently narrower than two cars, let alone a car and a truck.
