There are so many children's books out there for kids to be silly and have fun with but no adult ones! That ends with this!! From the frenzied fairies to the monster that ate my boyfriend's sock this book will keep you occupied for days! The thought that went into it is amazing! Besides coloring and giggling (which are not just kid activities) you'll enjoy puzzles as well as storyline and poetry! You won't be disappointed!!!!

The humor in it (humour if your Canadian) is just as wacky as it gets. Yet it's designed for adults. I got my copy and couldn't put it down. The coloring pages are a LOT more than just coloring pages, there's also hilarious short stories, and the artwork is better than any I've seen in a coloring book previously. This is more than worth the price, and if you have friends with a funny bone, makes for one heck of a gift. Totally recommend it. Twice. It's that good!J A Early Riser and TJ Crayons really need to get a sequel going. Like yesterday, cuz I'll buy that too!

I absolutely love the whimsical drawings and clever witticisms peppered throughout. I left it on my kitchen table and my daughter dropped in to visit. She was jealous of her mother's new book. So I guess I have to get one for her... and her sister (gotta be fair)... and my son's girlfriend... and.. and.. and.. Looking forward to a follow-up.

By william cooper This book along with the series "The Infected" deserves every bit of the five star rating in this review. From the characters to the settings to the graphic descriptions of the infected, this book is a page turner. It has a twist of hope, humor, and dread all wrapped up in a creative plot. I've read my fair share of apocalyptic zombie books but this series takes the cake by far. Thank you again Mr. Zuko for letting us into your warped, funny, and twisted imagination........

Hold on tight for a New-Adult Sci-Fi Adventure that's a cross between 'Firefly' and Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road!'Idyll is a rugged planet--a new, simpler start for some 10,000 settlers who have fled Mother Earth. But a strange 'plague' of contagious sleep has devastated their Settlement, sparked by a mysterious mantra called the Lullaby. After a three-year quarantine, Walt and Samuel Starboard set out from their ranch on a mission to cure their comatose mother and find their missing father. For days they ride through a blighted landscape: deserted cabins and gravestones and the ruins of towns destroyed by fire. Just when the brothers are about to give up, they stumble upon a second pair of survivors, two beautiful and determined sisters.Miriam and Virginia Bridge offer new hope, but they also present new problems. Stirrings of emotion and shifting priorities threaten to set the brothers against each other. Can Walt and Samuel overcome years of festering resentment, or will their rivalry tear them apart before they can reunite their broken family? And will any of them survive the revelation of who--or what--unleashed the Lullaby on their home world?EDITORIAL REVIEWS:***"...boy oh boy I never saw the big plot twist coming!! 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not so much a prediction as a warning By Peaceseeker James Derry is a superb writer. I gave “Line of Descent” five stars, and “Idyll” is another classic from him. This is one for particularly resilient fans of well-written dystopian novels: because for 74% of the book, horror is piled on “horror in a series of relentlessly awful days”. The protagonists are on a planet 13 light years from Earth, where the intrepid human settlers face insuperable obstacles in a heartaching struggle for survival. The detail is exquisite, the descriptions evocative and the characterisation complex. While reading it I kept hearing the final bars of Gustav Holst’s “Mars, the Bringer of War”: the strings scurrying frantically to find somewhere safe to hide, only to be obliterated by the ruthless hammer blows of the exterminating brass before the drawn out final chord signifies the total extinction of the human race. All is not what it seems, however, though it is for you to decide whether the new “reality” stumbled upon in the final quarter of the book is better or worse than the one that went before. "What a piece of work is a man": technological marvels may be accomplished in ensuing centuries, but the creature accomplishing them remains dedicated to the preservation of privilege by an elite minority. The tragedy resides in the fact that the majority’s struggle for survival entails backbreaking effort, the loss of innocence and the terrible waste of good. The best science fiction is not so much a prediction as a warning. Don’t expect too many moments of light relief, but confidently expect a well written depiction of a recurring human nightmare.

A great story that pulls you into a whole new world By Denise Gardner ** I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.**'Idyll' was one of those books that pulls you in and doesn't let go. It's definitely an adventure. The storyline was incredibly creative and very descriptive. I could picture each landscape and scenario. The way the story unfolded held quite a few surprises. I loved it. The characters were great. Walt and Samuel were complete opposites. They both had their own strengths and weaknesses. but they worked together as family. And then you have Miriam and Virginia. They were just as different siblings as the men. The sci-fi premise was well written and well thought out. A great add to your tbr list. Recommended read.

I was intrigued from the beginning and taken by surprise again and again as the story unfolded in strange and fascinating ways. This is science fiction and it takes place on another planet. All too often sci-fi writers - even the best - are overly fascinated with technology, astrophysics, and warfare. Surprise number one. This story, while it satisfied my fascination with alien landscapes, is about people! Guys. Girls. Guys and girls. Guys without girls. Girls without guys. Parents. This made the story very readable and very relatable. At the same time I really enjoyed the sci-fi aspect - the description of this alien world, its geography, its life forms, its offer of a new start. And I enjoyed the description of how the settlers were trying to create a simpler, healthier alternative to Mother Earth, now a distant and perhaps extinct memory.I'm easily bored with storylines that are too simple. This story enthralled me. The author is very inventive in his world building and storyline. What starts out sounding fairly simple and straightforward evolves into an explosion of surprises and intrigues, with disappointments, anger, heartbreaking choices and new hope.Complex stories sometimes fail to come together at the end, leaving me wondering what had actually happened. Not so Idyll. It took me a while to absorb all of the new information that came bursting out in the last part of the story but by the end I was very happy that it all fit together.Apparently the author hopes to write two more books in this series. You can sign me up for them. I am looking forward to finding out how humanities attempt to create a better world will work out. Not to mention whether "he" and "she" will get it together!

A different kind of paranormal By Jenelle Oliver If you are getting a little bored with supes then you should read this book, but it is the second book of the series. So start with the first. The author has a nice way of taking you on the journey with her main character. From a complete nonbeliever of aliens even though she was born and raised in the town outside of the alleged area 51 to forcing the existence of them upon her. It has humor, romance, action and likable characters! All in all worth the money. Ms. Ashe has showed her versatility and imagination once again! I'm a fan!

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Entertaining collection of science fiction stories by a remarkable collection of writers By Louise Marley In this outstanding collection of stories, the narratives begin at the outer edge of the solar system and move inward through the fascinating and difficult landscape of planets and moons and asteroids. This is a group of some of today's best science fiction writers, imagining how humans might manage the exploration and even, in some cases, the development and monetization of space. In fact, the privatization of space exploration is a recurring theme in this anthology. All the stories are good, but a few stand out to this reader. Jack McDevitt's "Excalibur" is a terrific mystery with political overtones. Alex Shvartsman, in "The Race for Arcadia" , gave me goosebumps with its chilling tale of an approach to space travel I won't describe so as not to spoil it. I don't want to ruin your own chills! Aussie writer Lezli Robyn, in "A Walkabout Among the Stars", gives us a startling and alarming first contact tale."In Panic Town, on the Backward Moon," is an offering by Michael F. Flynn, a charmingly-written mystery in space, with good science fiction and a noir-style voice. Joleta Clegg gives us "The Ultimate Space Race", a nice change of pace from the hard-bitten sf style of most of the stories, and one that supports the suggestion of a number of these writers that there will be commercial aspects to the exploration of space--in her case, in the shape of a reality television show with lots and lots and lots of advertising.SF stalwart Michael Capobianco, in "Airtight", does a fine job of illuminating privatized space exploration. James Gunn, in "The Rabbit Hole", describes a weird and wonderful trip down a wormhole, a rabbit hole in space leading to a bizarre Wonderland. Sarah A. Hoyt's story, "On Edge", is the tale of three young nerds competing for a corporate prize who cause a world of trouble with their efforts. As a fan of character-driven fiction, two stories in this solid collection stand out for me: Jack Skillingstead's "Tribute" pursues the oft-visited them of privatized space exploration, but as I've always found with his work, the characters come alive, and the plot has a satisfying little revenge twist. The other story, Brenda Cooper's wonderful "Iron Pegasus" also features characters that come alive--but they're robots, charming beings struggling to find a way past the classic paradox of allowed robot behavior. I received an advance copy of this collection, and I'm glad I did. Kudos to editor Bryan Thomas Schmidt for the variety and inclusiveness of this anthology. Highly recommended.

By Steve Pantazis This is a fantastic anthology comprised of extremely well-written short stories about space travel. It gives the reader a wide range of writing styles from top-grade authors, and includes stories that are serious, funny, fast-paced, futuristic, evocative and downright interesting. If you love space-faring adventures, this is a must read. Hugo-nominated editor, Bryan Thomas Schmidt did a fantastic job curating this collection of short stories, and the anthology is sure to garner considerable praise among notables in the sci-fi field. I loved it, and I know you will too!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Tasty Concept, Enjoyable Reads By Mark Penny Maybe it's because I recently read Andy Weir's The Martian (edited by Schmidt), but I rather hoped that the stories in this anthology would be less whimsical and more suggestive of what we might do to actually get off our planetary backside and plant an outsole on the next step to the stars. However, if you embrace the whimsy, all the stories are good and some are excellent--and the question of how to proceed with the dream does get some attention.

A WOMAN AND HER ROBOT DEFY AN EMPIRE... It is tomorrow—Earth's nation-states are bankrupt and its eco-system has collapsed. A Consortium of twelve mega-corporations rules the planet. The starving masses are controlled by the Consortium's robot army and by "Manna", a life-sustaining foodstuff mined from the sea. But the threat of revolution is growing, driven by a network of renegade scientists determined to bring down the Consortium at all costs. With acts of terror increasing, the Consortium has ordered its top spy, Lucinda Montavi, to infiltrate the scientists. She will be assisted by "Gog", the most powerful robot ever built. Lucinda is unaware her assignment will expose the dark secret behind the Consortium, the scientists, and Manna ... but the greatest secret lies within the robot floating beside her. Gary Naiman has written thirteen novels. His background includes twenty years at Paramount Pictures where he worked with a team of computer scientists and creative artists developing the first CGI and Virtual reality apps. One of his books is being considered for a motion picture.

By Diana In Fruit of the Gods, Gary Naiman leads his readers into a dystopian world of the future where what remains of the human race starves. Robots have replaced the need for human labor—and consequently, for humans altogether. The profit-driven Consortium, Earth’s ruling corporate conglomerate, is burdened with harvesting algae from the Pacific Ocean floor and rationing the “Manna” to the impoverished masses. When this life-sustaining food supply is threatened by anarchists, the Consortium sends Lucinda Montavi to stop them.Lucinda has been a loyal spy, scientist, and warrior for the Consortium for as long as she can remember. Paired with Gog, a super-robot capable of rudimentary emotion, Lucinda’s assignment leads her down a road she never expected to travel, one filled with the frightening truth behind long-held secrets, about the Consortium…and herself.Fruit of the Gods is fast-paced with a strong, suspenseful plot and compelling characters, including several robots. Naiman’s world lays out with technological detail and realism that sci-fi aficionados will enjoy along with the human story of a woman’s awakening to the truth. A great read.

Naiman's "Fruit of the Gods" speaks to this question both effectively and with obvious great pains to honestly convey what he sees happening through the eyes of his main protagonist. It's as if I had just read some works by authors like Toffler or Kurtzweil, and now I see these visions taking life through the experiences of Lucinda Montavi, a.k.a. #0021, and her surreal (or are they?) challenges. I only wish Naiman had included yet more specific illustrations to highlight the depth of his obviously broad-based research. I could have easily read another fifty pages.

The premise is sound -- too much technology and corporate greed make for a dismal future. The two lead characters are the best part, one human, the other a robot. At times, the robot seems the more human. The corporate supremacy line has been used before, but not with the powerful robot subplot. I've read some of the author's other work and enjoy his use of foreshadowing. You never know what's lurking on the next page. The author's style is fast-paced with little digression. The conclusion is quite emotional. Great read for a flight home.
