Having read fifty plus on the holocaust, this one is a must read on your list. Very well written and knowledgeable. I will definitely read this again. This book instills in the reader, the strength, love, faith, and the will to live of the prisoners held against their will. I praise all the survivors of the holocaust. They were all hero's in my book.

How people were worn down and had no will, This explains how people could be controlled and have not feelings toward the fellow man. Also why some were able to fight back in small ways.

5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Absolutely fabulous By Fencer I loved the White Hell series, though I'm not sure I can really articulate why--but I was never that charmed by Elezar. He struck me as a brute and kind of boring, so when I saw that this book was going to be about him and his 'second chance' at love, I honestly wasn't expecting to enjoy it that much.Gosh, though, I couldn't have been more wrong! I can say that while I really enjoyed the White Hell books, I loved Elezar and Skellan's story THAT much more! It was a bit slow-going at first--and the summary honestly didn't hook me. I wasn't entirely sure there was even going to BE a romance, or if it would just be more general plot, action-adventure type stuff. If anyone reading this review feels the same uncertainty--fear not! The relationship between our protagonists is built exceedingly well, provided you're patient. The payoff, though, is well worth any wait.As for the likely question of, "Soooo Javier and Kiram...?" rest assured that they not only have cameos, they have fairly large roles in the book (around the size of Elezar's in their book), and it's refreshing seeing Elezar, his beau, and their relationship through the eyes of these people who know Elezar so well.I'm aching for more in this series, because Scarlet Wolf books have shown me that I'm just not ready to bid farewell to these characters or this author!

Needless to say, I will be searching out the rest of the books set in this world. On to the review. This is exactly what I was looking for in romance fantasy. The writing is smooth, and the characters are well developed. The back story for Elezar is heart breaking and goes a long way to explain his outlook and actions. The mystery around Skellan is not to hard to figure out, but the final reveal is well played and actually suspecting the answer adds a certain appeal oddly enough. There is some violence and a touch of gore, but appropriate to the scenes and not excessive. The sex is not graphic so if that's what you're looking for sorry. The romance and relationship building is very well handled and engaging. There are a few editing errors, but the brain tends to automatically correct them, and not really difficult. As far as the ending goes; well it made me want to grab the second book and dive into the rest of the story. Isn't that the best an author can do?

Yes, there were some copy edit issues that really surprised me and yes, I cringed at the cliché use of the scorned woman going bad (seriously authors, women do have other motivations in life than men), but mostly I really quite enjoyed this.I found Elezar's tarnished honor and torn desires created a complex hero and I thought that Skellan, as a wholly under-estimated badass, was endearing. Their slow burn relationship was a pleasure and the Grimma/witches was an interesting culture.However, though it was fun to see Javier and Kiram again, I admit they didn't seem to add much to the plot and I thought Elezar and Skellan deserved the stage to themselves. But maybe J & K will become more important in book 2. Lastly, I thought that the villain was defeated too easily. Not in the sense that it was an easy thing to do or without sacrifice, but that the understanding of what to do and actually doing it seemed to come out of nowhere and be accomplished in a very short, almost anti-climatic amount of time.So, I had complaints, but mostly I enjoyed then and can't wait to jump into book two.Note: borrowed from library
