About the Author
JOAN OF DARK aka Toni Carr has had a passion for knitting since her grandmother taught her how, and she instantly regretted the hours in her life spent not knitting. When not knitting, skating, performing aerial silks, or running muddy obstacle course races, you may find her working in her coffee shop, playing the guitar or the bass, or taking care of her many rescue animals.

By ML I bought this mainly for the soup-for-the-geek-soul of it since several of my favourite fandoms are included, but it made me want to dig out my knitting needles and polish up on my skills. I really love the Blue Box and Baker Street scarves and the Poison Ivy wrap! The neatest thing about his book is that between the commentary, and the wonderfully fun photos by Kyle Cassidy, you don't need to know how to knit, or even be interested in knitting at all to find this book to be a worthy purchase.

Also it has a broad range of skill abilities from beginner to int/adv and I find the the line by line instructions pretty straig By Allyfree I got this for my birthday. I had taken a little bit of a hiatus from knitting and this book brought me back. First of all my oldest wanted the dire wolf inspired from Game of Thrones. My other daughter wants the dragon and I think I'll make the cute little alien for my nephew. Even if you don't identify yourself as an uber-nerd the patterns would appeal to all knitters. Also it has a broad range of skill abilities from beginner to int/adv and I find the the line by line instructions pretty straightforward. I don't normally give reviews but I felt this book was pretty awesome and definitely worth checking out if you are on the fence.

If you knit, you will love the easy to follow patterns, and end up making a whole lot of really wonderful projects. If you don't knit, you may start. (like me) If you're only in it for the pictures of the fabulous Geeky folks forget, the knitting angle, it's worth it just for them. The production quality is very high, and the photos by Kyle Cassidy are very well done. What I love most, is Joan of Dark's wit, savvy and overall tone. She knows her knitting and shows a high technical skill with her patters, but also, once again, she has shown herself to be one today's emerging young writers to watch.
