This wrapped the series up nicely (though I could see some of the other Hellions maybe getting a book or two). I have very few complaints. I adored Skellen and Elezar as much, if not more, than I did in book one. I liked the world, the side characters, the writing, pretty much all of it.I did think it felt overly long, like the middle dragged a bit. As with the other three books by Hale that I've read, the editing is surprisingly problematic. There aren't a ton, but everything is so well done that I just don't expect to stumble across copy edit mistakes. And I thought the ending a bit abrupt. Both in the sense that the final danger was quickly overcome and in the sense that after the climactic battle we're given very little winding down of the story. But despite my grumbles I'll be looking for more of Hale's writing for sure.Note: borrowed from library

One or two is one thing, but this many really threw me out of the book world, over and over. There were patches where there was one every other page or so, there were a few clear patches, and then in the middle of one dense patch of typos, there were three on just one of my little kindle screen pages. The books (all 4 in the series) were intense and detailed and wonderful, but this last one in particular doesn't look like it received much proofing. It really is a shame; the story itself was engrossing and I hated it to end.

However, the reason that I can give the final part only 4 stars is: bad editing. Truly bad editing. Editing is not the strong point of any of Ginn Hale's books, but this one holds the negative record. I submit editing errors as corrections on my kindle (category "typo" for lack of a more fitting category) and for this book I entered 18 of them, where there are few books that get more than 5 from me. Ginn Hale's books do not have many real grammar errors, but instead she commonly has sentences missing words or having additional words in places where they do not make sense. In this book:SELECTED TEXT : SHOULD BEgreater of immunity : greater immunitycaptain the harbor : captain of the harborvictoryagainst : victory againsthim house : him to housestumbled and knew : stumbled and he knewa feeling a : a feeling ofrelived at : relieved atof the of : of thelittle though he’d : little thought he'dtoday you it’s : today for you it'sa kind a : a kind ofbeer of the : beer if thewill sea : will a seablazing decent : blazing descentfive Elezar’s : five of Elezar'sthough the all the : though all the“From what I understand.
