I think there are numerous areas that have mistakes, some simple i.e. same answer is listed twice in the answer set to others that have very questionable answers. The focus of most of the questions is recalling the tools, tips, and what happens in each knowledge area. It is less focused on putting the theory together to answer broader PM questions. On the exam there are areas of direct recall (where this book is useful) and there are areas that blend the theory with the "best answer" mandating judgement (less useful in preparation for these.)

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. not scenario type questions like you are given on the actual PMP exam By K. Metzler Unfortunately, this book does not prepare you for the PMP exam. I used this as my reference study guide recently and failed the exam miserably. The sample test questions in this book are not representative of ANY question you can expect on the exam. The exam questions were much more difficult and harder to interpret. These questions essentially were directly out of the PMBOK; not scenario type questions like you are given on the actual PMP exam. I also found several questions with incorrect answers in the book which made me hesitant to the accuracy of the material I was trying to learn. I would not recommend this book at all. If you want a good study book, us the Rita books. They are much better.

I have been a project manager for the last 15 years but I know in order to get promoted I will need to earn my PMP. Since I have not taken a formal exam since college makes me nervous. I am the type where I will buy several books to learn from in hopes it will come together in the end. I purchased this PMP prep book for my study review. I enjoy the questions and the explanation on the final exam. The overall grade of the book is an A for me. This was based on the price of the book, content, questions and layout.

Great backround of todays technology By Girlieeee This is a book in a larger series of books called “Lightning Guides” in which each book explores a different complex topic. This book is about the history of technology and the leaps and bounds that were made through the years and the people behind them to make the world what it is today. Some of the interesting topics and people that are highlighted in the book are morse code, radio frequencies, the Wright brothers, Apple, and Mark Zuckerberg. This is a very insightful book that can be picked up like a magazine to enjoy a short article or two, or you can sit down and read the entire book in a couple of days. I like the format and the size (it's smaller than a typical paperback), and that it's easy reading with some great background of the topic. *I received a sample of this item in return for an honest and unbiased review*

I think this book has a lot of great snippets of different people By Amanda H I thought this was a really interesting book on the advancement of technology, and those behind each idea. I am a homeschooling mother of 9, and I think this book has a lot of great snippets of different people. It gives a short breakdown of different technological feats and the man or woman behind them. I found it hard to just read through as a book, but it would be a great book to use as a starter for further studies. I plan on using this for study assignments for my children to read, and then find more information on that specific person. This book goes from the light bulb, to the cotton gin, and up to Google and Apple.I received this book free in exchange for my review.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. WOW! Better than I thought! By Melodie This is actually a fantastic book that explores technology inventors from the last 100 years. There is so much information in this book that it is almost overwhelming. But the stories or descriptions of each of these inventors is fascinating and there are little-known facts in each of the individual biography’s. If you are a history buff, IT person or just someone who is looking to catch up on the last 100 years of innovation, this is a quick and easy read. Pictures and text are well done and the overall layout of the book is easy to interpret and digest.

It should be "Not Quite Seventeen" By Richard Chappell When I saw the title of this book, I assumed that "Not Quite Eighteen" meant that someone was 17-years-old. Nope.Copyrighted in 1894, this is a collection of 16 short stories. Some of the tales have a moral to them, some have a virtue that is emphasized, and others are just stories for entertainment. None of them were interesting enough to read again. At the end of each short story, there is an interactive button that says 'back to contents', which will take you back to the contents page(which is not interactive).- posted by Poore Richard's wyfe

Do Evangelical activists control the Republican Party? Do secular activists control the Democratic Party? In Godless Democrats and Pious Republicans, Ryan Claassen carefully assesses the way campaign activists represent religious and non-religious groups in American political parties dating back to the 1960s. By providing a new theoretical framework for investigating the connections between macro social and political trends, the results challenge a conventional wisdom in which recently mobilized religious and Secular extremists captured the parties and created a God gap. The new approach reveals that very basic social and demographic trends matter far more than previously recognized and that mobilization matters far less. The God gap in voting is real, but it was not created by Christian Right mobilization efforts and a Secular backlash. Where others see culture wars and captured parties, Claassen finds many religious divisions in American politics are artifacts of basic social changes. This very basic insight leads to many profoundly different conclusions about the motivations of religious and non-religious activists and voters.

Godless Democrats and Pious Republicans?: Party Activists, Party Capture, and the 'God Gap' (Cambridge Studies in Social Theory, Religion and Politics), by Ryan L. Claassen

Review "This thoughtful and empirically detailed study of religion and party activism takes us miles beyond simplistic commentaries about godly Republicans and godless Democrats." Morris P. Fiorina, Stanford University, California"Ryan Claassen's Godless Democrats and Pious Republicans? makes a major contribution to increasing our understanding of how religious divisions impact American party politics specifically and American society more generally. Rejecting oversimplified notions of party capture and mobilization, Claassen provides a nuanced and comprehensive account of how religion and politics have interacted during the last half century. It will force scholars to reconsider conventional thinking on this important topic." Edward G. Carmines, Indiana University, Bloomington"By exploring the social roots of secularization in the American electorate, Claassen provides fresh and original insights into the role and origins of religious divides in US party politics. This account deserves to be read by scholars of contemporary American elections and voting behavior, parties, and religion, while the broader lessons also shed light on the connections between religiosity and party politics elsewhere in the world." Pippa Norris, Harvard University, Massachusetts and the University of Sydney'In sum, Godless Democrats and Pious Republicans? is a valuable contribution in its own right, and represents a potentially important contribution to a long-running theoretical conversation in political science. For those of us who still take seriously the notion of 'scientific progress' in the social sciences, Claassen's effort merits our careful attention." Ted G. Jelen, Perspectives on Politics"Ryan Claassen wants to root out this mythology of the God gap and debunk conspiratorial explanations of its origins ... Claassen finds convincing support for the representation-based approach, rather than the group mobilization perspective." James L. Guth, The Christian Century"Although many studies support the observation of an increasing religious divide, Claassen is the first to question whether the change is due to disproportionate mobilization ... Students of religion and politics will be well advised to address the issues his fine monograph raises ... Highly recommended." T. Marchant-Shapiro, Choice

About the Author Ryan L. Claassen is Associate Professor of Political Science at Kent State University. His research investigates political engagement - especially the role of engagement shaping the capacity of individuals and groups of individuals in the American public to effectively contribute to public opinion and compete democratically. His work has appeared in American Politics Research, the Journal of Politics, Political Behavior, Political Research Quarterly, and Public Opinion Quarterly.

Dr. Classen uses nearly 4 decades of voting history to validate his hypothesis that the republican right has not really increased their voting pool, beyond normal population growth rates. Great book as we head into the 2016 Presidental Election.

Years ago, Terran Scout David Rice crash-landed on the lost colony world of Aashla, where he rescued and fell in love with the beautiful Princess Callan. Pledging his life and sword to Callan and his adopted home world, David thought he'd never see another Terran again—until the night the sky was lit by weapons fire, as another starship tried and failed to blast its way through Aashla's deadly planetary ring. Now, rushing to the crash site, David and Callan find they're too late, as their bitter rival, Prince Rupor, has gotten there first... For on a world of swords and airships, even a wrecked starship can overthrow the balance of power! SCOUT'S DUTY is an exciting modern homage to the classic tales of planetary romance made famous by writers such as Edgar Rice Burroughs and Leigh Brackett. If you like your heroes unabashedly heroic, your heroines feisty and true, and your plots filled with dangers and twists at every turn, you'll enjoy SCOUT'S DUTY.

Between the menial jobs and the IT jobs, Henry achieved some small fame as a comic book writer and co-creator of the small press titles Southern Knights and X-Thieves. For the past ten years, Henry has performed all around North Carolina as a professional storyteller. His love of planetary romances can be traced to Mrs. Lashley, a high school math teacher who loaned him her copy of A Princess of Mars, fostering a love of the genre which has never died. Henry currently lives in Raleigh, NC, with his wife, son, two cats, and a host of imaginary friends all clamoring to tell him of their adventures.

By Pat Patterson I received an advance review copy of "Scout's Duty" in February, and am SO pleased that it's finally out where everybody has a chance to get to it! I got another copy with Kindle Unlimited, so I could check out the cover and admire the page numbering. And also so Henry could get paid, which is a plus for authors.David Rice is a Scout, First Class. He's many other things as well, but being a Scout goes to the core, and has an impact on the kind of friend and the kind of husband he is. When he was a little boy, and later on an older boy, he loved listening to the stories of an old, retired Scout who lived across the street from him, so every thing he does is a culmination of a lifetime dedicated to the concept of duty.In this book, David starts off at what most would consider the top of the heap. He's married to the beautiful Princess who is destined to rule her kingdom, and there is really only one other superpower on the planet. So, David could be content either to rest on his laurels, or set about a conquering the Tartegians and then ruling the entire planet. To his credit, neither course of action seem to appeal to him.The outside world intrudes, through a wormhole in a crippled ship, David, being a Scout, goes to rescue the castaways. And we get to meet the really, honest, no-kidding nasty bad guys, because that's no ordinary ship: it's PIRATES!!!For a Juvenile/YA book to be good, in the Heinlein tradition, certain things HAVE to happen. The hero can't just stand off and give orders. He has to give the bad guys a fair fight. And, he has to win, in the end. And THIS is a good Juvenile! There's not a thing in here that would make me uncomfortable if I was reading it to my 10 year old, Kenneth. The pirates have tortured and tormented a young boy to make him into a cruel cyborg; David kills the cyborg, but not without a pang, because as far as he is concerned, the boy was a victim, not just a villain. He refuses to fool around with a bevy of gorgeous and scantily clad babes. When he discovers they are slaves, forced to be entertainment for the captain, he gives them some clothing (a MOST valuable psychological boost), and promises to do his best by them.Okay, let's sum up: this is the best of the trilogy, in my opinion. It's clearly an excellent juvenile. It's also well written enough that I enjoyed reading it as well, and I am NOT a type who reads at the level of "see Spot run!" While you would benefit from reading the other two books (Scout's Oath and Scout's Honor), you don't have to read them first to enjoy this book. Give it some better cover art, and I'd be happy to see this in every school library in America. How's THAT?

Back when Ace books and shortly thereafter Ballantine Books started republishing ERB's novels I was a teenager just beginning my life long love of science fiction and adventure books. I picked up Burroughs' A FIGHTING MAN OF MARS and became hooked. I read every Burroughs book I could find.Fortunately Henry Vogel has not yet written the seventy odd novels that Burroughs produced, because if he had I would not be reading anything else this year not written by Vogel. What a treasure!Like Burroughs Vogel doesn't seem to be capable of writing a boring word. Every one of his books is a gem, this one included. I'm not going to say that I like Vogel's novels better than ERB's, but I read those books four decades ago, and for my money Vogel currently writes the most entertaining stories in the genre! Sure hope he keeps going for seventy odd additional books.

This is an excellent introductory SF book for a young reader, but complex enough to entertain an adult. It reminds me in some ways of Burrough's Barsoom novels. Finished all three books over the weekend, and will be looking for more. Well done!
