I was desperate and with all this pressure mounted on my shoulders I could barely make it through an interview unless I was prepared. So, I did what I had to do and got a hold of this book. I learned to prepare and how to stay relaxed during the interview, and also was guided on how to perfect my resume. Recently applied for a job, and the interviewer seemed to be very happy with my composition and my resume- I'm hired thanks to this book and a little elbow grease!

A Tolerably Good Read By sbpendragon Set in the 1800's, two young gentlemen from England arrive in Australia to try their luck at beginning a new life. They soon encounter rogue bushrangers, disaffected Aborigines and the harsh Australian countryside. The story is relatively short and a fast read. It is a tolerably good book but not fantastic. The attitude towards the Aborigines is definitely not PC but accurate for its time.

Plenty of fleet battles in this 2nd instalment of Slaver Wars: The Lost Fleet By Amazon Customer This second instalment in the Slaver Wars: The Lost Fleet series presents the readers with plenty of fleet battles as well as some ground action. It follows the first instalment although with a jump of a few years. The humans in the lost fleet have built themselves a home, hidden from the Simulins, in their new galaxy and, as the blurb states, are trying to get a message about the danger the Simulins presents back to their home galaxy. While doing so they make some worrying discoveries.At the same time, the humans in their own galaxy are preparing to face the expected onslaught of the Simulins. Unfortunately this books introduces some political struggles and, as most people know, when politicians are involved, especially in military decisions, they tend to screw things up. To add to the problems a real a--hole in the form of a admiral that seems to be appointed more based on political connections than military merit and who cares more about brown nosing said politicians are added to the mix. Needless to say these were not my favorite parts of the book.The dual point of views, one from the Triangulum galaxy and another from the human home galaxy, allows the author to throw not one but two major showdowns against the Simulins at the reader. As usual when this author is concerned these are enjoyable action sequences.Luckily the more intelligent of the characters, as opposed to politicians and brown nosing admirals, manages to overcome the less intelligent characters’ attempt to screw things up. However their effort may be in vain as the Simulins have a rather huge ace up their sleeves.Most of the old characters are back, including the two AI’s and Admiral Streth although the latter, even though playing a rather important role, is not very present in this book. The story does contain a few new twists and discoveries but the book still lacks a bit of the novelty of the previous books in the various series from this author. This is of course always the case with ongoing book series. Once the initial universe is created the story tends to become a bit of business as usual. The core story of a race trying to eliminate all future threats by killing all advanced or potentially future advanced races is also one that has been used before by several authors.Nevertheless this is a good book. At least if you like traditional “empires slug it out” kind of space opera. Even though the story is not unique it is well done with likable characters. I liked the book a lot and are looking forward to the next instalment.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A masterful rendering of a good scifi tale By Wally Lafferty Raymond L. Weil is really becoming an amazing story teller. His ability to put the logical sequence in order, balancing the complexities of weaving a multiple-viewpoint story, and providing just enough information before the jump to another perspective is masterful. It's so very easy to visualize his complex battle scenes, they are so well written.The only constructive criticism I have for this series is that it reads like a novel written for young adults. This isn't a bad thing if the intended audience is young adults. But as a middle-aged adult, it's hard to find some of the dialog between characters believable. I'm speaking of characters whose role would require a deep level of scientific expertise in their field, but asking questions that seem to suggest they have no basic knowledge of the underlying science. Another example would be characters who would be in command roles on a very important military mission, but fall into teenage-like dialog about hamburgers or wedding dreams. To a mature reader this seems a bit silly. To a young reader, it might make sense.Nevertheless, I have a deep appreciation for Mr. Weil's ability to construct a story and put the reader in the moment. I look forward to his next novels.

Awesome battle action sequences as Jeremy and his allies take on the Simulins By Catherine Mackay The latest installment in the Lost Fleet series has just confirmed why I began reading Weil's Slaver Wars in the first place - this book is flaming awesome!!!!!!!! The action never lets up and the battle sequences were brilliant - so much so that I couldn't stop reading until I had finally finished the last page. In this installment Jeremy and his fleet of ships find out the Simulin's little secret - one they will do anything to protect, including finding and wiping out the human forces in the Triangulum galaxy. Meanwhile, Admiral Race Tolson does everything he can to spread the word of the Simulin threat - will anyone listen? The only downside to finishing this installment is the wait until the next book - wish it was out now!!!! I highly recommend Into the Darkness to all old and new fans of the Slaver Wars series.

It gives a very good point about how consumerism embraced our world nowadays and how important it is to learn not to depend on things and materialistic world. The book contains description of 7 steps- how to live minimalistic, happy life and how generally become more independent person and feel more freedom in your life. It helped me to fight with stress and materialism addiction. Now I enjoy my life much more than before and I can truly understand now what's actually important in life.

How to live as minimalists By Ashley Roberts We have to understand that living with too many things, believing that they are all essential, are more of a personal way of thinking, than actually being a fact. It is crucial to get rid of the mentality that you definitely need ‘N’ number of things to lead a good life because you do not! To get rid of the storage mentality or habit, the first thing you have to do is to get rid of any storage bins, cupboards or baskets you may have. Train yourself to live without the excess and buy things only when you think that they have exhausted and may need a refill.
