Sing Down The Stars was a full dozen cupcakes celebration! I love this book. The story is solid, and the author masterfully pulled me into Penn's world and kept me there throughout. I already have a path worn in my carpet walking the floors waiting for the next book. Being against all things Spoiler I won't insert any. And believe me the author builds this world and its inhabitants so well, you will thank me for not including them. Get the book. Get the book today. Get the book right now!

A fantastic book that left me wanting more By Zina H I received a review copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review (which you can read in full here: https://stitchmediamix.wordpress.com/2015/10/06/book-review-sing-down-the-stars-the-celestine-series-book-1-by-l-j-hatton/)But let's keep it short and sweet in case you don't feel like clicking over to my slightly spoilery review.: Sing Down the Stars is a good example of how to do dystopian YA fiction. It's fun but dark, with characters that click with you from the start. Hatton's worldbuilding is expansive, detailed, and leaves you wanting more and thankfully, since this is the first book in the series, we're going to get more eventually.I enjoyed this book because it exceeded my expectations. It made me laugh and cry (once at the same time). I'm 24-going-on-25 so YA is not always going to be for me but I was happy that this book that lured me in via its blurb and glorious cover was a book that I felt was an interesting read. Everything happened so fast and so much that yes, it could be dizzying, but you know what? I wouldn't have had it any other way.

And I actually think the plot description does not do the book justice.This is weird dark fantasy. There's a circus freak show element to it which is fantastic - creepy, carny, cool. The world building is pretty nicely done as well. I definitely felt lost in it.Yes, you have a few derivative things - our girl is "The One". People seem to be willing to die for her and you can't figure out why - her personality is a little...vanilla.But even so, the book is action packed, has some terrific mechanicals (Xerxes, I want to take you home with me!), and it's a surprisingly dark story.Is it worth a read? Absolutely. Will I read the next book in the series if I get a chance? Absolutely.Solid Dark Fantasy and better than the cover or plot summary would make you think.
