Leo Champion's characters were interesting and the aerial combat was fun. Some of the "technology" had me shaking my head, but I don't think it was meant to be serious. As far as I could tell, there's nothing preventing Kaiju from joining the fight. Some of the side characters were more interesting than the main characters, though I wanted a bit more description.Lots of action with an awesome female protagonist running the show. I kind of thought some of the incompetent enemies (particularly those on the main character's own side) got a little old. Some capable antagonists would have added a bit more depth.Overall, a fast, fun read, without getting too gritty.

Ray Spitz The Conferated Union, through appeasement and weak leadership, invites war by the brutal Zinj and Air Force and Armored Cav are all that stands between the CU and utter catastrophe. Mr. Champion tells an exciting tale of air warfare and small unit combat as the batter forces of the CU tryto slow down and stop Zinj forces. It is a harsh battle and steep learning curve the soldiers and lessons are paid for in blood.

I liked it well enough that I also bought it. It's an interesting read with very good action sequences. The main characters are interesting and likable. I recommend giving it a shot. It's definitely worth the price of admission.

Educational objectives and tests are given to demonstrate understanding of the material and critical thinking skills are given at regular intervals with space to record each grade. Younger students may be given the option of taking open-book quizzes.
• Daily Schedule: Includes a suggested educational schedule for the course. Space is given for assignment dates. There is flexibility in scheduling for the educatory.
• Course Materials: This Teacher Guide includes a variety of activities for hands-on fun and learning, worksheets for vocabulary recognition and basic understanding, and two tests of major concepts and information retention. Supply lists and information on optional kids are also included.
• Time: Each lesson will vary in length of time depending on your choice of activity and how you choose to use the materials per your learning style. Some recipe-based activities may take 45 minutes to an hour, while others may only take 20 to 30 minutes. Worksheets may be completed in 15 to 20 minutes.
• Grading: It is always the prerogative of the educator to assess the student’s grade however he or she may deem best. I couldn't be happier with this collection! Lainna Callentine, MEd, MD put together a concise and easy to use curriculum to introduce elementary students to anatomy. This curriculum is geared toward 3rd-6th graders. It is a year of curriculum for 2 - 3 lessons a week for 36 weeks at a pace of 30-45 minute lessons a day. The two student books, God's Wondrous Machine: The Electrifying Nervous System and God's Wondrous Machine: The Breathtaking Respiratory System, are themselves electrifying and breathtaking with all the art work and details inside the book's pages! Throughout the book you will see three levels of vocabulary to stretch every reader. The detailed pictures and timelines reflect the reality of the anatomic system with the history of gained knowledge of those systems over the years. In addition, the teachers guide is by far a blessing to those who will use it. It has the lessons all planned out for ease of use and a flexible time line to go with it. Considering that time is the biggest obstacle to battle, this is wonderfully helpful. The plans incorporate the use of lab kits that are sold separately but are only for enriching the lessons, they are not necessary for lesson comprehension. The teacher's guide includes lesson plans, worksheets on different levels, and activities to incorporate. I am definitely going to enjoy using this for years to come.I received a complimentary copy of this book through Masterbooks for my honest opinion and review.

Upon using the flashcards found on pages, 33-40 of the teacher guide, one will notice that the cards will cut out incorrectly. They do not have the correct definition on the back of the term. They are inverted. I contacted the publisher and did not get a satisfactory result. They feel a mistake like this can wait til the next printing of the book to be corrected. In the meantime, many children will memorize the wrong definitions!

It provide much better info than the regular nursing drug books, because it gives a full list of compatibilities for every drug, and it provides actual rates of administration. I've been buying this book for years, updating every two years or so, because Davis' and PDR for nurses etc. just don't provide enough info for IV drugs, although having one of the others is indispensable for everything else.

By Eischen Harkins Very informational book, but the info is a compilation of "other sources." Many parts in the book will say "one source states..." and then "another source states..." etc. I've found several places where these sources contradict one another, especially on drug compatibilities with each other!

It begins incredibly strong but fades towards the end.The Eleven: This story introduces The Eleven, a Time Lord with a regenerative illness that has all of his personalities active at once. It's a great idea and Mark Bonnar does a superb job bringing this intriguing and frightening character to life.The story itself is a fast paced mad dash that finds the Doctor forced to come to Gallifrey and then trying to thwart the Eleven's escape attempt. It's an action packed hour where the tension rarely lets up.The Red Lady: The Doctor and Liv arrive the British Museum in the 1960s in search of a temporal anomaly caused by the Eleven. There they encounter Helen Sinclair and some artwork featuring a mysterious Lady in Red, a portend that grows more sinister as the story goes on.This is one of the finest scripts John Dorney has written for Big Finish. There's a very strong horror element in the story that really builds throughout it. It's helped by expert directing by Ken Bentley, and fully engaged performances from Paul McGann and Nicola Walker as the Doctor and Liv, with Hattie Morahan turning in a solid performance as the new companion Helen. To me, this is the audio equivalent of, "Blink."The Galileo Trap: This story marks Helen's features Helen's first trip in the TARDIS as they had back to 16th Century Florence after receiving a message from Gallileo and right into a trap.Overall, this is a story that worked okay. If you can get past the idea that the Eleven hired two low-rent alien thugs to spend years watching for the Doctor, the story is fairly well done and has some typical doses of Marc Platt written weirdness and some good moments with Helen as the new Companion. The final scene which sees the savage alien villians revert to their more despicable forms is very well-done.The Satanic Mill: This story sees the the Doctor, Liv, and Helen heading to a mysterious planet that appeared near Earth. They find a colony of humans with a 1-day lifespan who can read, sing, and work all day. Of course, it's all an elaborate trap for the Doctor and sets up his confrontation with the Eleven.The Eleven has a plan that's extra evil and extra vindictive and appropriately twisted. While Mark Bonnar doesn't get to do as much with the Eleven in this one, there's an appropriate sense of menace to the character. We also get to see some nice moments with Helen and Liv as they develop into a good double act.Beyond this, though, the story has problems. There's too much that's inexplicable about, "The Satanic Mill." Why do these workers live only one day? It seems a total waste. Why teach them to read evil, "Work Till You Drop" hymn books. Why even have hymn books when you're only going to live one day and sing one song. The story doesn't hint at an answer to this thing or even some bigger answer that would give you a general idea bout the logic of this plan. The only potential answer is that, "The Eleven is crazy and that's just what he does." which can only go so far.I also felt the cut scenes in the middle of the story where we cut away from action at the, "Satanic Mill" were distracting where they were used. Coming in the middle of the story and out of nowhere they took us out of the action to Galileo warning of the end of the world and a Time Lord stating Earth had disappeared in the 17th Century. They could have were used at the start of the story like in, "The Pandorica Opens" on television where the cut scenes from previous guest stars showed something had gone horribly wrong and set the mood for the audience. Here, they just distract.And then there's the ending which just isn't satisfying. It's a plot that uses the Sonic Screwdriver and the TARDIS to save the day in a very cheap way, but with the Eleven giving clues that there's something behind his actions before he disappears mysteriously. The way this is done just felt tired unimaginative.So the box set starts off strong and fades, but still there are some intriguing hints of wants to come and a lot of strong performances that make it enjoyable despite a flawed final chapter.

By Joseph Baneth Allen Just finished listening to "Doctor Who - Doom Coalition 1" released by Big Finish Productions.Spoilers Ahead:"Doom Coalition - 1 " sets the bar extremely high for this series of adventures of the Eighth Doctor, Liv, and Helen - the newest companion. Centering around The Eleven - a Time Lord criminal, who is insane because all of the personalities from his eleven previous incarnations reside in his mind - and he is deadlier than The Master or The Rani. His goal is not only to kill the Doctor; but The Eleven also wants to twist the knife in by killing off a vast majority of the Doctor's companions and that means destroying the Earth before any of them can be born. Not even The Master would go that far in revenge."Doctor Who - Doom Coalition -1" consists of the four story arc: "The Eleven," "The Red Lady," "The Galileo Trap," and "The Satanic Mill."Not only does "The Red Lady" introduce Helen to the TARDIS crew, but it's a very horrifying ghost story in its own right and introduces a novel way to capture a ghost.Without giving too much away, The Eleven, who is one frightening manic to listen to, gets away to try to kill the Doctor another day.While I'm looking forward to the second series in this sequence, I am hopeful that it does not fail like "Dark Eyes - 2" did.Time will tell.Highly Recommended!Five Stars!

It presents serious math content in interesting games/drills for all second grade topics, such as addition, subtraction, estimation, measurement, number sense and place value. It strikes a good balance between math concepts and fun learning. It has a lot of fun themes including the beach, the neighborhood, monster math and so on. My son really enjoyed it. When kids have the interest, they become smarter. Practicing math doesn't have to be painful. When my child takes the online Beestar weekly tests, he often ranks high among his peers. I give credits to this book. Highly recommend.

Both of Moore's most famous heroes, Jirel and Northwest Smith, are represented here. The two classic tales 'Shambleau' and 'Black God's Kiss' are here, as are the brilliant 'No Woman Born' (one of the first cyborg stories --- the forerunner of the Bionic Woman!) Buy it!

The Devouring Desire By doomsdayer520 The classic early SF/fantasy tales by Catherine Moore were so far ahead of their time that the extent of her influence is mind-boggling. In fact, many modern authors may consider themselves heavily influenced by other authors who were themselves heavily influenced by Moore. The short stories collected here are all from the 1930s and 1940s, and you can easily see Moore's insistent influence on vast realms of fantastic fiction. The stupendous "Shambleau," dealing with a bizarre alien predator that oozes terrifying sexual tension, broke so much new ground in science fiction, horror, and goth that the reader will be astounded to learn that it's from 1933. A year later Moore probably invented the fantasy femme fatale in "Black God's Kiss," featuring the amazingly butt-kicking (for 1934) heroine Jirel of Joiry, who hates her male oppressor so much that she recruits the very forces of hell to taste revenge. Moore may have also invented the cyborg (and a female one, no less) in "No Woman Born," while three different tales here make early inroads into the unknown horrors of time travel, most notably "Greater than Gods" in which a man learns that both of the paths he may take in an important life decision will lead to the downfall of humanity. The late Catherine Moore deserves vast appreciation and respect from historically-minded readers in several different genres of fantastic fiction. 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A hard-to-track down classic By BlueFairy Catherine Lucille Moore was one of the leading lights of early sci-fi and fantasy, and her prose is lovely. However, I was never quite blown away by the stories. I think I was expecting too much.According to the introduction, Moore was one of the first (or the first) to write sci-fi from a more emotional perspective. "Her early stories were notable for their emphasis on the senses and emotions, which was highly unusual at the time." -Wikipedia Also she is lauded for her very alien aliens and her use of romance.While I appreciate the stories for how groundbreaking they were, I must admit I was not that impressed by what they are. I've read too much that took her work as inspiration and spun off into further realms. I find these stories good, even very good, just not amazing. And I was really hoping for amazing.The first two stories star her space outlaw, Northwest Smith. Each story is solid, creepy, well plotted, but the themes are so similar that I think they suffer by juxtaposition.There are a selection of other sci-fi stories on various subjects: potential futures, time travelers of multiple stripes, cyborgs, alien worlds, and more. There's an odd spin on the Lillith story, and my favorite story was "Daemon", a unconventional fantasy piece about the nature of souls.I don't fault Moore that I am born too late to fully appreciate much of this volume. I am thankful that I have read so many great books inspired by her work. Nowadays almost all work integrates the emotional into the SF, but I suppose it didn't have to be that way. Someone had to be the first.

However, Sorcha: Awaken is unlike any other YA novel I've read, and it stands a class above. There are elements of adventure, action, mystery, and romance which combine to create a fast-paced journey of good versus evil which has been elevated to the divine. Beyond the mundane, more significant than fantasy, in a battle as old as time, angels and demons fight for the upper hand in the world of humans. The twelve Sorcha, warriors of the light, must come together to battle on behalf of Elohim, and as I read of their awakening, I became devoted to their cause. Each individual character will claim the reader's heart and devotion, and anyone looking for an exciting and one-of-a-kind story will find all they're looking for and more between the covers of the Sorcha novels.

Suspenseful - Riveting - Thought Provoking By meghan Cunningham From the Prologue to the final sentence of the book, I was gripped by this story. Sorcha - Awaken was riveting and suspenseful. The story was thoughtfully built, and each character introduced in a way that made me want to be a part of their story. The entire book showed a beautiful contrast between good and evil. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment and cannot wait for the second book to be released!! If you enjoy Heroes, Divergent, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, etc., then this is a MUST READ!!

Every sentence is perfectly crafted and full of description. If you have a taste for books you can sink your teeth into and get lost. This is it! Beautiful illustration of Light in dark places. How did an Austrian-born misfit who had never risen higher in military service than the rank of lance-corporal attain mastery over Germany and most of Europe? Much of that dubious credit can be attributed to the actions of his earliest paramilitary army, the Sturmabteilungen (SA, Storm Troops), and the men chosen by the Führer to lead it. This series analyses the lives and careers of those men, the first volume covering 49 officers, 35 of whom were, like their leader, veterans of the First World War who had found themselves stunned, bitterly disillusioned, and in many cases unemployed and destitute in the aftermath of that four-year struggle. They eagerly sought the opportunity to return to uniform, battled the enemies of the Nazi Party in the streets of inter war Germany, and saw their efforts rewarded by their own leader’s betrayal, as he essentially decapitated his SA in favor of its own subordinate formation, Heinrich Himmler’s SS, in the ‘Night of the Long Knives’ (30 June –1 July 1934). But the SA did not end with that devastating blow, and despite its loss of prestige and power it was to play an important role in military training and internal security within and outside the borders of the Reich. During World War II, many of its leaders were tasked with administering occupied territories and representing Germany as ambassadors to other Axis nations. Still others, men of all SA ranks, served individually as members of the German armed forces, tens of thousands of them losing their lives on all fronts and many of them receiving the highest awards for bravery and leadership. Relying primarily on contemporary documentation, including the official personnel files of these men, Michael Miller and Andreas Schulz have compiled the first in-depth study yet produced on the SA leadership corps, a series designed to provide as comprehensive a picture as possible of the hauptamtlicher (full-time, actively serving) and ehrenamtlicher (honorary) SA-Führer.

Another triumph for Mike Miller and Andreas Schulz By Mark A., Costa This is the first English language in-depth study of all the senior leaders of Hitler's Storm Troopers known as the SA. It is jam packed with all sorts of information regarding each leaders lives, assignments, promotions, awards, families and ultimate fates. It is of the highest quality as one would expect from these authors. Those that have purchased their previous books on the Leaders of the SS and Police volumes 1 and 2 and their first volume of the NSDAP Gauleiters, will understand of what I speak of. Not only is the data extremely helpful for researchers, but the hundreds of rare and unpublished photographs are a wealth of information for uniform and medal collectors. I highly recommend this book for all researchers of WWII and the Third Reich and look forward to all future volumes of this series and the others mentioned above. All of which can be ordered here on Amazon.

The authors have gone to a lot of trouble to scan historical archives and present the data in a readable manner. Obviously, the market for this type of historical information is limited. However, to those with interests in this material, the book is a treasure trove.

I love following The Zen Succulent on FB and instagram so when I saw they were releasing a book I was like, "Yes, please I'll take two". I find terrariums, air plants and succulents to be so beautiful but I consistently skimmed through pinterest tutorials to maintain them. I am not exaggerating when I say that in the past I've had to say "farewell" to over 8 different succulent plants in a span of 6 months. I love greenery I just lack the talent to keep it flourishing, which meant I had to invest in gaining a bit more know-how. "The Modern Terrarium Studio" was able to offer just that in a delightful, thorough and creative way. This book is lovely and the most important part is, it is useful. Step-by-step instructions with a clear description of the plants and the tools you'll need to build a proper terrarium and why you need them made me appreciate the terrarium building process! And it seems for the more experienced terrarium builder it would offer inspiration and new ideas! I have now built a proper terrarium for my bathroom, my office desk and one for my entryway at home! All of which are alive and well! I definitely recommend this book and will likely give it as a gift in the future!

As a Florist making "Sand Art Terrariums in the early 70s I would have loved to have had this as a guide! The Photography of the how to's and plants is the best ever! Every Plant lover should add this book to their library!

The Good Ship Melody pulls you into its lively story with strong characterization and intriguing twists, leaving you digging for hints about the next installment. The bonds between characters were believable and rock solid, and written in a way that made it so easy to sympathize with and root for my favorite characters. I, for one, am very excited to see where our heroes end up as the series continues.The book ended a little abruptly for my tastes, and there were a couple grammar errors and oddly placed sentences, but nothing was enough to pull me out of the story or make me not want to read and reread and reread. Clean fic is so hard to find in this day and age, and well-written ones are even rarer, so I loved this one and would highly recommend it.
