I had an advantage when i started reading the series, all seven books had already been published so i just went from book to book reading them in order. Took me about two weeks to finish the first seven, (obviously i have other things i have to do also). Then i had to wait, and wait, and wait...and finally Adair had number eight completed...then i was done. Listen Adair you turkey, you better become more prolific or i am going to go back to watching TV!

Sometimes I only coughed up three stars for an installment, but more often it’s been four, and I’ve praised his storytelling and especially his pacing. But I’ve been sour on unbelievable and annoying Zed from the get-go, and it really hit rock bottom this time around. Zed and his incredibly foolish decision-making and his rage and his need to get evil ROTC Mark – I'm just not interested. It’s old material that has been dredged up a dozen times now. I’m sure a real editor would have thrown out this entire installment. Zed’s attempt to farm Whites into the ground, his relentless run through the woods that went on and on and on and on and on – it was just too much. Too much foolish Zed. Thank goodness Murphy was there for part of it or it would have been unbearable.I’ve really had enough of Zed and his constant penchant for foolish trouble. It’s ruining the series and moving it too far out of the realm of suspend-your-disbelief plausibility. Up till now, the action has been far-fetched, of course, but still just this side of believable. But the whole combine thing was ridiculous. Murphy, by this point, is by far the more interesting character, but he’s now sort of relegated to a secondary role, obediently following Zed’s lead. If I were Murph, I would have stayed at the silos. Those people have got it seriously together, and I felt sorry for them – idiot Zed almost led the entire naked horde right to their door.And when Zed finally meets up with ROTC Mark? Well, go ahead and read the installment; I say it was massively anti-climactic, after half-a-dozen installments spent setting it up. Maybe you’ll think it was storytelling at its best.And there are quibbles everywhere. Again, Zed’s eyesight is brilliant, but he can't aim a gun – how’s that work? Adair also realizes he’s painted himself into a bad corner, weather and exposure-wise, and tries to explain it here and there, but the fact is, if it’s going down to 39F at night, and there are rainstorms, and the naked horde (and sometimes naked Zed) are sleeping on the ground night after night, they’re toast (figuratively speaking!). There would be no horde in those conditions, just a few hardy infected survivors still intelligent enough to cover up. For one brief moment, though, Zed has an intelligent thought – what about moving north a little? Just a few degrees colder and… no, let’s go find ROTC Mark!I don't know – if all you want is Zed/Murphy action, and you don't really care where it goes, then it's fine. But I’m losing interest. Two stars.

By Amazon Customer the chase scenes in ths installmnt were super exciting, read if in almost one sitting however (and this is why i only give 4 stars) , the books are getting shorter and several pages are used up with long intros and recaps. the first books were well over 300 pages and now they are barely 250 pages; minus 10 or so pages of fillers.if you havent read all of the previous books and therefore, dont know what is going on, i say "too bad" go back and buy the booksi have purchased each book separately and deserve a full book tha isnt 'filled in' with extras and fluff

Easy to follow scripts presented in the point of view as a hacker (including subtle remarks toward those that use these techniques for ill-fated purposes). Cameron presents an idea, shows the python script and corresponding source contents for which this script works against, then describes the scripts steps, and then goes on to describe additional related things about this script. You could say that each script could build upon each other, but that's not totally true. The author makes sure they are really cut and paste recipes. He gives you the recipe and often a way to include it into a bigger, more comprehensive script - that builds upon each step as the book progresses. Being a cookbook, there is plenty of code examples for you to try out. This is not a book about theory, but rather implementation - so all the fluff is cut out and it gets right to the point.The book also focuses most of the direct web page vulnerability testing (2-3 chapters) at php script as the web pages' source. This would have been nice to have a corresponding discussion related to aspx, jsp, etc. There is some discussion of other technology other than php, and I get that the book would have probably doubled in size if more common page source was discussed, but it is something to think about when reading. Create the same page in aspx or jsp and attempt if there is a similar vulnerability.Don't worry though, there's plenty of scripts related to SQL injection, header processing, encryption, encoding, payloads, shells, and even how to report your findings. These items are not necessarily exclusive to a single technology, so you are not pigeon-holed into testing only a certain type of website/server.This book is not about learning python so if you're new to it, and you really want to understand how to manipulate each recipe, then I suggest searching for a beginner python book. However, that being said, most average level programmers can understand the scripts presented without needing to reach out for a python book/video.Being in the industry for over 15 years, I've seen a lot of tools you can buy off the shelf that tout the ability to do this same thing just by running a program. I think knowing what it actually does is key to really understanding your vulnerabilities rather than trusting someone else's process because after all, attack vectors change all the time and with this information you can easily change your scripts.In conclusion, this book is perfect for a web application developer wanting to test her application or an IT person ready to see just how vulnerable their application is - all with the ability to report the findings to those who need to know where to plug the holes. This is a book I will be referring to during and after each project I work on.

Just a quick little taste of what a day in the life of our heroes is like in the post apocalyptic world of The Orphans. Oscar Wilde's think pieces Limited 21st century audience By Phred One .of the nice things about being a Kindle owner is the ability to add unlikely pieces by well-known writers for little or no money. In this case we are offered Essays and Lectures by Oscar Wilde. Listing, as of review date: free. If you're an Oscar Wilde fan this is a great way to take possession of items not usually thought about when building an Oscar Wilde collection.There are seven selections in this book amounting to about 200 pages of reading. Oscar Wilde topics include the history of historical criticism, the pre-Raphaelite movement, several different perspectives on art especially decorative art, a curious piece on the then new institution of artist's models and finally three or four so-called "poems in prose". If you are used to the witticisms and clever wordplay of Lady Windermere's Fan or The Importance of Being Earnest, you may find these readings rather dry. For me the poems in prose were somewhat fun. I found it best to not read the essays to intensely.This is not a very long book. Its proper audience is fans of Oscar Wilde willing to see him in a different light. His essay and lectures style is very much the essay and lectures style of his time. It is not so much about documenting opinion as, dramatizing it. Oscar Wilde is an intelligent and thoughtful man but given to too many generalities and universal statements. "All art..." or "all artists..." and so forth without any thought that there might be another opinion or another possibility.Technical note: This e editin includes about 22 footnotes. The system for clicking on the number to read the footnote was not operational.Bottom line Oscar Wilde Essays and Lectures is worth what I paid. Oscar Wilde fans may appreciate Oscar Wilde the lecturer, and would be essayists can benefit from studying intelligent period writing.

I have dabbled with many of these types of books over the years and this one surpasses all the others. The author's drawings and examples are wonderful. I have always wanted to learn how to draw perspective and now I feel like I have the tools. The organization is exceedingly helpful, with color coded pages for the different sections, including one on tools, another on methods, and another on drawing as a way of thinking. This is a very high quality publication both for the content and the quality of the book itself-- the paper and binding are excellent and should withstand extensive use in the field. I highly recommend this work for anyone interested in seeing the world through the eyes of an artist and developing their own ability to draw.

Paladin The Evil Within the Woods By jeff russo After reading Author Kevin Fitzgerald's first book UnAlive: Full Novel]] I was surprised by his next offering. Being completely honest, had it not been a Kevin Fitzgerald book I would have more likely bypassed this selection form the kindle book selections. Fortunately I didn't. In what’s becoming the Kevin Fitzgerald “knack”, taking a subject and bring it to life in a fresh reproach I found myself totally hooked. The book somehow blends an old style of writing with a since of newness so in some way this book could have been written 50 years ago but fresh and by no means dated. If you had told me yesterday I was going to be concerned with the fate of a certain rabbit I would have said you were crazy and I would have been completely wrong. In true Fitzgerald fashion, characters conjured up by the Author becomes a part of you and you can’t help but anticipate what’s in store next for your new found (in this case furry) friends.

By K-H "Paladin" is a book that took me back to the days I'd spend fully immersed in the Chronicles of Narnia. It is a fantasy - set in the real world.Fitzgerald has created a wonderful world within ours from the perspective of the small creatures living in it. The characters, human and non, are well developed and, while the villain seems caricature in nature, his existence in the real world is believable. The rabbits have a clear history, language, lore, and societal structure that is fun to learn about. Combine this with the vivid imagery and symbolism crafted into each chapter, and you've got a deeply meaningful, thought-provoking, and entertaining tale suitable for family story-time, or teens and adults alike to sit back and enjoy. I'm looking forward to Book 2!

I was wrong to presume that this story would be written with only children in mind as I thoroughly enjoyed the vivid imagery and beautifully descriptive scenery, was drawn into a world that seemed timeless yet current. From the most innocent of characters to the most dreadful, PALADIN BOOK 1 is definitely a must read. Had it not been for my desire to support a fellow Believer, I might have never read a book with talking animals, knowing how much I loathe movies with talking animals. I am so glad I didn't hesitate to read it and now can't WAIT for Paladin Book 2: The Mission Begins.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. Too Basic By Bev in TX The title indicates that the book is for beginners, but I think it's too basic even for that purpose. For example, it only introduces a few data types and numeric intrinsic functions, Coverage of character intrinsic functions is missing. While the book introduces the IF statement, it does not fully cover the basics of it. Arrays (at which Fortran excels) and looping are missing altogether. These is also no mention of creating your own procedures. Still, the book might be a tiny bit useful as an extremely basic introduction. That is, the beginner will only be able to write the most basic of programs. For that reason, I gave the book 2-stars.Also, FORTRAN was the name of the language from its beginning through FORTRAN 77. From Fortran 90 the language's name is no longer spelled all in caps. Given that the book shows both free form coding and lower case key words, which were introduced in Fortran 90, it should use Fortran -- NOT FORTRAN.

His recent and current work includes research on statistical methods (for example, work on three-dimensional statistical graphs) and on Canadian society (for example, a study of political polls in the 1995 Quebec sovereignty referendum). He is author of many articles, in such journals as "Sociological Methodology", "The Journal of Computational and Graphical Statistics", "The Journal of the American Statistical Association", "The Canadian Review of Sociology and Anthropology", and "The Canadian Journal of Sociology". Pierson Before continuing, I must admit I returned this edition, as I wanted another. A classic of its time, a fine edition with illustrated by N.C. Wyeth appeared in 1930. The edtion pictured here carries the simpler but nice illustrations of the original 1903 edition. The story itself I find one of the great Ameircan coming of age novels. My father introduced it to me when I was in high school (1946-1950) and I recently reread it. It can draw tears, Set in the years leading to and of the Civil War, it's about Chad Buford, a wronged and orphaned Kentucky mountain boy, who escapes with his dog and trusty rifle to a hill country village named Kingdom Come, where he is taken in by a local family.The school teacher inspires him to learn. Lost on a school trip, he is found in Lexington by Major Buford, who in time finds Chad is his nephew. As Chad grows up, he is torn by love, and more, by the division of Kentucky by the Civil War. He chooses the Union and is drained by combat. At war's end he decides to go west alone. His surviving love says she will follow. The language can be old fashioned, and in places like that in Huckleberry Finn, but always undertanding.

Years went by and I've looked in every used book store I came across for a new copy. None found. I turned to Amazon finally and found a vintage copy similar to the one I lost.The story is of a simpler time but the message is eternal. I enjoyed sharing this story with my child. Thank you

Kids tend to have way more things- toys that have many pieces or many toys but either way; you end up tripping over them, stepping on them and otherwise wishing they were somewhere else. There are ways to control the clutter and actually maintain your home without spending every waking moment picking up dozens of little plastic bits. All parents can find some nice advice here concerning decluttering the space as well as how to keep family happy with some activities which are really enjoyable and supportive in being friendly and active together. I’ve got a feeling as if I have a friend and she helps me out with turning our home into happy living space. Thanks a lot!

I am glad to admit that screaming, yelling and stress has reduced considerably By Amazon Customer I struggled to find a fine balance between maintaining a spotless home and raising happy kids. I end up stressed most of the time. Having read the book I realized my mistakes. I no longer wish for sparkling clean home. I found the tips helpful to get toys organized in a way that even my kids are happy to follow. I am glad to admit that screaming, yelling and stress has reduced considerably and I am enjoying the giggles most of the time. I enjoyed reading the book. It was more like listening to a close friend.

Phyllis Gill is sharing her secrets how to keep the living space tidy and enjoying life even having kids. It can be not so easy , parents of small children know that well, but using some tips and useful recommendations from the book regularly can make difference after sometimes. Great to learn the secrets of tidy home with kids!
