It's well-written and provides the basics for fellows like me that have (now had!) no idea on hydroponics. You'll notice it's super easy to read and follow, not something that can be said by all beginners guides in my experience.Loved the chapter on creating your own hydroponics systems, where it guides you through every single step in a way to make it fast, easy and headache-free. Perfect Gardening Book for the True Beginner By Jimmy Franklin Having recently gone to Disney, I was amazed when we went to EPCOT and saw them grow fruit and vegetables without soil, basically hanging them from the air and wetting occasionally. It inspired me to learn more, and luckily I found this book. Not only does it have everything to get you started, it is written in a way that even the most novice can understand. I am super excited about growing my own veggies this way.

The magnetic strips mean that it can live on the side of my refrigerator. I only have two things I wish were different: 1 - I wish that there was a place to keep a pen. 2 - I wish that it was wire bound so that the pages lay more flat. Otherwise this is perfect!

By Sandy Scott Although I am a retired airline pilot with a degree in aeronautical engineering and over 15,200 hours of jet piloting time, as a recent convert to the world of R/C model flying, I had endless questions. This book answered them in a concise, clear way! I have spent an enormous time calling support lines of R/C model dealers, searching about R/C forums, posting questions there, and watching hours of YouTube videos in my quest for knowledge. I could have saved myself a lot of time had I known of the existence of this great book.I must also reveal that the book arrived yesterday afternoon and I am only half way through reading it. I have gleaned enough knowledge in that half book to justify my 5 star review. Bottom line: The book is a must read for anyone new to the hobby of flying R/C aircraft! Now I've got to run and go finish the rest of this great book!

Worthwhile, helpful, and enjoyable read By nioa I am an experienced modeler and electric airplane pilot looking for material to help others learn about electric aircraft and flying. I read this book from cover-to-cover and found it to be thoughtful, well organized, and authoritative.Jim engages the reader with some common initial questions that are clearly answered. The book helps with getting started with electric flight, safe modeling, field operations, how models work, and tools needed, as well as examining electric power systems.The book is easy to read and understand, concise, and is up-to-date, and offers current useful electric information. I recommend it as an excellent guide to those starting out and needing a book to help "pull it all together".

27 of 27 people found the following review helpful. Disappointing. By Carolyn I wanted to learn a little more about quilt as you go on a smaller home swing machine. The is to make a larger project in sections that are manageable on a standard machine. This is not the book! It has cute projects and looks like it is a decent variety of the technique, but it plainly states in first couple of pages that this method is only for small projects of limited size. It is not a good method for making a bed sized quilt. I feel that's important enough to mention in the book's description, and it isn't.

This book shows 14 patterns where you can do just that.Between table toppers, bed runners, place mats, potholders, coasters and wall hangings, you will have a variety of items that once you are done piecing, you are DONE. The quilting is done as you piece. With the way I quilt as you go, I can even turn the runners into quilts with the strip join I use.I don’t like to do curved piecing but with the author’s method, you do straight piecing and then fold a piece into a curve and stitch it down. Very nice. And she even adds Prairie Points to simulate a Chevron pattern.Now my problem becomes which pattern do I do first. If you want your projects finished when you are done piecing, this is the book to show you how."I received this e-book free in exchange for providing an unbiased review."

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Great ideas for quick gifts! By Denise Russell Gudrun's book features 14 beautiful projects. After I read it (yes, I read quilt books cover-to-cover!) I went straight to my quilting room. First, I revisited the Quilt-As-You-Go Method section at the end of the book to make sure I had everything I needed and knew what to do. Gudrun's directions were excellent so I quickly prepared the strips, backing fabric, batting and started stitching. Then, inspired by one of Gudrun's ideas I turned the quilted strip into my own projects: two sets of mug rugs. I can't wait to work with blocks, too, and make a wall hanging and a table runner. Give it a try - easy, fast, and fun!

As a person who has previously lived in Japan, I definitely liked the way Renae took creative liberty in fashioning this Tokyo landscape with creative concepts like the Tokyo Eaves and various other locations. I like how the protagonist's fresh, almost ldyllic sense of Japan begins to change as question are raised throughout the story regarding humanity, the nature of artificial intelligence and the often blurry morality involved in emerging technological industries. I found myself wanting to find out more after the story's conclusion. Maybe there will be a part two? This story was a interesting step back into the city I used to call home. This is a great read not just if you like science fiction, but are interested in Japan because even though it is set in the future, it gives a lot of contemporary Japanese cultural tidbits throughout the novella. Read it and enjoy!

It's a very smart and topical plot despite it's future setting and the author's writing style is rich, witty and very real. I personally love Sci-Fi and can be quite scrupulous in my habit to poke holes in the originality or absurdity of any Sci-Fi story, but I really appreciated this take on the near future, I was pleasantly surprised by the vast and vivid technological advances of future Tokyo. The events are perceived by Poppy, intelligent and loyal wife of Oliver, a kind and hardworking man who has moved to Tokyo for a unique work opportunity in the world of Android technology. Her experiences in Tokyo, in her house equipped with a personal assistant system, a self-cooking, voice-activated kitchen and her illusion windows, are wonderfully described and very compelling. Yet, things become far more sinister after a short while in paradise, when Oliver comes into a very dangerous secret that this "N.E.A.T" company is desperate to hide. I loved this futuristic delight and I can't wait for more from Renae Lucas-Hall! 5 stars for excellent reading!

By Annemarie As someone who lives in Tokyo, I was intrigued to explore the author's futuristic take on the city. From the minute the story begins, she transports you into a world that combines both familiar traits of Japan and Tokyo with believable concepts that highlight a potential (and potentially scary) path that humans may already be on. Her writing is neat and the plot moves swiftly - so much so that by the end of chapter three, which is where this particular story comes to an end, the reader definitely wants to know what happens next. The couple at the centre of the story have found themselves in what could turn out to be a heart-racing, suspense-filled sci-fi drama, and I can't wait to read more.

This adorable picture book shows how a very positive (and amusing) little hedgehog handles three class bullies. They give you pieces of history without being overly complicated or hard to read which is great! I love that it is not too big of a book and does not take a lot of time to get just a little bit of information. This book has a lot of really cool information about different secret societies like how they started, what they did and what they are doing now. I wish I was able to read history like this when I was in school instead of the big giant books that just made history seem horrible! These books are a great way to learn about history without feeling overwhelmed. If you like learning about history you really should check these books out! They really are quite awesome and you learn a lot and they make it to where it really does stick with you. I got this book for free in exchange for my honest review.

By Girlieeee This is a book in a larger series of books called “Lightning Guides” in which each book explores a different complex topic. This book is about the history of secret societies. Some of the interesting topics that are touched on in the book are the Illuminati, temples & lodges, the secret service, the KKK, and many other secret societies. There are so many interesting tidbits that you will find in here that you never knew. This is a very insightful book that can be picked up like a magazine to enjoy a short article or two, or you can sit down and read the entire book in a couple of days. I like the format and the size (it's smaller than a typical paperback), and that it's easy reading with some great background of the topic. *I received a sample of this item in return for an honest and unbiased review*

Well I was pleasantly surprised by the books history and the format. This book discusses many of the well know societies and explains them in a very simplistic easy to read and understand concept. This book has many interesting tidbits about symbolism, woman in secret societies and many other interesting nuances. If you are looking for a quick and easy read on facts that explore different secret societies in the 20th century then this is the right book for you.

Survival is the keystone of King Space Void - all its bizarre denizens, fleeting beauties, and architectural horrors are occupied with the project of outliving the universe. Their goal is to get to The Edge, a nebulous "end" of the universe where oneness and peace awaits. The price for this quest, however, is wholesale destruction. They can touch nothing without ruining it, and only by devouring planets can the Machine continue onward. In its own bizarro sci-fi way, King Space Void is a travel narrative. Our protagonists traverse the interior of this reality-defying, Galactus-like superstructure, encountering civilizations and perils while dealing with the existential horror of their own quest. The language is strong and poetic, the imagery striking. The antagonists are all oddly casual, as though their fantastical environment were more a fever dream than a massive spaceship.My biggest criticism is one of length. The book's latter half was rushed and some of the action a little confused. Given a longer medium and more time for editing, Trevino's narratives would really blossom, creating something truly unique in the weird sci-fi genre. I look forward to it.

By just another bookworm The cover art made me read the sample, which was good enough to make me pull the trigger, even though I think the price is too high for a single. The author smoothly delivers on the brilliant premise. I was looking for a smart, off-the-wall tidbit to read this morning, and I wasn't disappointed. This story is like a twisted little fever dream Phantom Tollbooth journey through the body of a giant machine/ ecosystem/ world annihilator. The imagery is wildly imaginative high horror; the strong voice takes it beyond standard gross out tropes. Apparently, the copy editor was home sick the day this was published, which mars the good writing, but overall, I enjoyed it.

The story takes place inside a ginormous MACHINE GOD slash GALACTUS slash LEVEL 4 CIVILIZATION. Our lead, Dane, is one lousy dude. His known world is crashing down upon him but he is too weak of mind and spirit to act independently and pretty much gets dragged through the book by the much stronger supporting terrorist, Scarlet. She’s tough enough to make up for his shortcomings, and thank the MACHINE GOD because otherwise he’d have been greasy gopher guts by page 20.Trevino pulls some serious rabbits out his world-building hat in this relatively short bizarro novella. The story keeps the reader in the waiting room for the first act but once the rubber hits the road, what seemed to be a fairly one, maybe two set piece story turns into a highly compressed and successful road trip – and let’s go ahead and all caps that: TRIP. There’s plenty of drug use throughout the book along with all kinds of sex and slurpy whatnot. Trevino ain’t the Neapolitan Ice Cream of erotic scene setters – there’s every damn flavor you could think of and a few you never would. Trevino’s a bit of a sick puppy, much to the reader’s benefit.Also, there’s some gore and body horror and a fantastic lightning-paced parade of horrific and surreal imagery, from exploding oozy spiders to zombified cyborgs fighting the leash. Trevino runs you through his machine god world with urgency but every image is painstakingly clear and haunting.A fine addition to the league of New Bizarro Author Series books from Eraserhead Press. I’m already looking forward to the author’s follow up.
